For the seasoned LJ Smith reader (whom I'm sure make up most of my visitors), this section will be pretty superfluous and boring. Well, you can skip this because it isn't for you. Since I attract a lot of visitors through my anime collective who are unfamiliar with the Vampire Diaries and LJ herself, I thought a nice little intro would open the site to more visitors! Huzzah!

So, who is LJ Smith? She's a young adult novelist who writes in the romance/horror genre. Her work includes Night of the Solstice, Heart of Valor, The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, The Forbidden Game, Dark Visions, and her newest series (which is still sadly unfinished) Nightworld.

I started reading her books with The Secret Circle when I was 11 (in '93 I think?) and have kept the books on my night stand ever since. Her work has spawned several populous online fan clubs and even a video game. Her last novel was published in December of 1998, leaving readers waiting for the completion of The Nightworld for three years now. The official word is that Ms. Smith has been ill, though a few of us have our own speculations. ::grin::

The Vampire Diaries was her third work (if you count NotS and HoV as separate works since they were never formally coupled aside from storyline), and what I'd reason to be her most successful. The story revolves around the arrival of two vampire brothers in a small Virginia town who fall in love with (and proceed to fight for) the same girl. Stefan Salvatore, the kinder, gentler younger (and sadly less popular) brother is the focus of this shrine. And so finishes the introduction to this site. For further information on LJ Smith, travel down to the Circle Daybreak homepage or you could try my comprehensive LJS fan page Joyland Park. If you're interested in more general information on The Vampire Diaries, A Tribute to The Vampire Diaries is a good follow up. I must warn you though that the last page mentioned, while rich in content, carries some rather annoying sound files and clashing text/background combinations with it. Proceed with caution.
